I would like to share a recipe of my own mac and cheese that is so easy to make. It only took me 20 minutes to make it. When you get the chance to make one out of my recipe, please send me a feedback! I would love to hear what others think. I have no idea what triggered my craving for something salty and cheesy yesterday and just to satisfy that craving, I decided to make mac and cheese. I like to experiment in cooking, mixing ingredients, improvising and of course a whole lot of guessing. This is actually the second time I made mac and cheese. The last time I made mac and cheese was already a year ago and I went all out on the budget to make sure my mac and cheese would taste exceptional. But this time, I only used the basic ingredients I could find at home and what we usually have. So if you’re on a tight budget and want to serve mac and cheese, here’s all you need.
Ingredients:
Instead of using elbow macaroni, I used seashell macaroni (400g).
For the sauce:
Butter
Instead of using quickmelt cheese, I used an ordinary buttermilk cheese. It takes a little more time to melt them but it will get there.
A bottle of cheez whiz
A box of all-purpose cream
1 tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon of pepper
Procedure:
Slice the cheese into cubes
Melt ½ cup of butter in a non-stick sauce pan and add buttermilk cheese, wait for it to melt. A lot of stirring and mashing of cheese is needed.
Add the all-purpose cream and cheez whiz to melted cheese, stir.
Season with salt and pepper.
It’s important that you constantly stir because the cheese sauce thickens up quick.
In the sauce pan, mix the cooked macaroni to the sauce evenly and serve.
Adding bacon bits and other kinds of meat products is optional.
I can’t promise that it’s easy on your palette; I don’t know what kind of taste you’re after. But it pleased me, my sister and other people at home. Enjoy!
